STOP PRESS     Because of low water levels in the canal system, the Way and Arun people have reluctantly been forced to cancel our boat trip. The lunch at the Onslow Arms is still to go ahead and, subject to the weather, an after lunch walk along the tow path is still to be recommended. Pam and Bob will try and reinstate the visit and boat trip early next year, probably March/April.

Further to our e-mail of 2nd July, the event for September has now been confirmed. We will be meeting for lunch and the normal chat at the Onslow Arms pub at Loxwood (RH14 0RD) on Tuesday 10th from 12:00 hours followed by either a walk along the tow path or just to sit in the pub garden overlooking the canal or on one of the seats provided on the tow path. A two hour private boat trip and a short talk has been arranged for those interested. This will start at 14:00 from the wharf next to the Onslow Arms.

The pub will require us to prebook our menu choices for which payment will be taken on the day by the pub. For the menu please see the Onslow Arms website “onslow summer menu”.

Your choices should be sent to us at least a week before the event. There is no limitation on numbers for lunch.

There is ample parking for our Morgans in the pub overflow car park which is next to the Wey & Arun Canal Information building and boat wharf.

The boat trip will need to be paid for 3 weeks before the event and numbers are limited. The cost will be a maximum of £15 per person which includes a small donation to the Wey & Arun Canal Trust in lieu of a charge for a speaker. Tea and Coffee are available on the boat.

There are a few places left on the boat, so if any other members wish to join the boat trip, please advise us as soon as possible. Please note that access to the boat is down three or four steps from the wharf.

All replies to pamandbobcare@btinternet.com please.
