On Saturday 9 August, we will be visiting Nymans Gardens in the morning, www.nationaltrust.org.uk/nymans , RH176EB followed by lunch at the nearby Red Lion at Handcross , www.redlionhandcross.co.uk RH17 6BP.
Nymans is always worth a visit because the displays in the gardena are constantly changing throughout the seasons, and at the time of out visit there will also be a World War 1 exhibition highlighting the Britsih and German ancestry of the Messel family and the anxiety that the conflict caused, with family members caught up on both sides.
We will aim to arrive just after 10.00 a.m., when Nymans opens and after doing our own thing (gardens, free tours, house, exhibition etc) we will make our way to The Red Lion between 12.00 and 12.30.
Nymans is free to NT members and group rates (£9) are available for non-members. We will need to know numbers, particularly for the Red Lion, so if you would like to join us for both or either parts of the day, please let Mike Fenwick know on 01883 742660 or mandjfenwick@hotmail.com Could you also indicate if you are/are not a NT member so that he can organise a group as required.
